Kids Make Art After-school Sessions Term 4‏

More excitement this school term with spring in the air and summer peeping around the corner what fun we are going to have!

Working on our Artist’s Books

Our ongoing project that may just go on forever.

All about freedom, play, self-expression and experimentation.

Again a good long 10 week term to give us a wonderful opportunity to have fun exploring the different art elements, techniques and mediums that we can use to express ourselves.

After-school art sessions are on Wednesday & Friday and run for 2 hours after school, 4 to 6pm, and are directed towards 6-12 year old artists.

Both sessions include afternoon tea* in addition to the supply of all art materials and equipment.

We have started back, the first week of term, which was the week beginning Monday October 7th 2013, with our first art sessions on Wednesday 9th and Friday 11th.

‘Crikey you have already started & we missed out!’..... Don’t worry you can start at anytime during the term.

You can book your child in for the whole term or attend casually, week by week.

However, BOOKINGS are a must so that I can creatively cater for all. (That is a couple of days notice is always good for me).

*Snacks and drinks provided are (water/juice box, popcorn, rice crackers, cheese and/or biscuits, simple stuff). Please let me know if your child has any allergies, food intolerances, dietary requirements etc.

ON THE FINANCIAL SIDE:

For the Wednesday and Friday group’s 10-week term, the upfront payment for permanent booking is $280 per young artist at one session per week.

Or $30 per session for casual - week by week - bookings. Price includes afternoon tea* and the supply of all art materials and equipment.

This term, due to the final week of term often being so busy with Pre-Christmas school and social events, I have decided it best to not run formal art sessions that week and definitely NO art sessions on the final day of school term, Friday 20th December due to early school finish (1pm) & holiday plans etc.

What a fabulous time we having been having at Kids Make Art.

We did 2 sessions exploring charcoal. In this one we talked about how charcoal came from burnt willow sticks. And how we can make some really exciting and different marks with it. Had some fun with basic shapes & lines as a warm up then got into drawing a burning forest.

Loved that everyone got the irony of this project and then went on to make some very unique beautiful art.

AND THEN WE

Experimented with Charcoal and subtractive drawing

What a hoot we had here. 

Instead of adding the charcoal to make a drawing we had to take it away or subtract the image out of the dark. Working hard with rubbers, rags, paper stumps and even old bread, we pulled our still life image out of the dark and into the light.….So much mess and so much fun

And even mastering the basic concepts of Still-Life in this project.

Here the students were exploring not only a great artist but grids, text and poems in art, pattern, composition, colour just to name a few elements that make art amazing.

Such beautiful work at the end of each art session. 

The kids proudly hang their work on the wall and stand back to view and look at the great stuff they have achieved.

Kids Make Art Term 3 program 2013

Term 3 is shaping up to be very exciting time for 'Kids Make Art' after-school sessions.

A longish term at 10 weeks will give us a wonderful opportunity to have fun exploring the different art elements, techniques and mediums that we can use to express ourselves.

We will be starting back the first week of term, which is the week beginning Monday July 15th 2013, with our first art sessions on Wednesday 17th and Friday 19th.

As you probably know each Wednesday & Friday session runs for 2 hours after school, 4 to 6pm, and is directed towards 6-12 year old artists.

Both sessions include afternoon tea* in addition to the supply of all art materials and equipment.

ON THE FINANCIAL SIDE:

For the Wednesday group’s 10-week term, the upfront payment is $280 per young artist at one session per week. Or $30 per session for casual - week by week - bookings.

For the Friday group’s 9-week term, the upfront payment is $250 per young artist at one session per week. (No art sessions on the final day of school term, Friday 20th September due to early school finish & holiday plans etc). As above, $30 per session for casual - week by week - bookings.

For Your Information

There is now an opening on Thursday after-school for a junior artist group to begin, ages 5 to 9 years. Projects will be directed more towards younger artists and will go for a shorter time - After school, 4pm to 5.30pm.
Unfortunately, this will only go ahead if I can attract at least 4 junior artists. So if you know of anyone who may be interested, I would love it if you could let them know J

Cost for Thursday Junior Art sessions includes afternoon tea* in addition to the supply of all art materials and equipment.

For the 10-week term upfront payment is $240 per young artist at one session per week. Or $27 per session for casual - week by week - bookings.
